Based on the information in chapter 6, would you prefer to teach in a classroom that had more or less digital technologies? Why or why not?

I would prefer to be in a classroom that had more technology.  Even though technology can be very temperamental, it can be very helpful in the classroom with the students.  Technology that interested me from this chapter was the clicker.  Students can respond instantly and the clicker can be used as a way of keeping attendance that can help the teacher.  The teacher can view the results right away and see how many of the students got the correct answer and how many answered wrong.  This can help the teacher decide whether or not continue on with the lesson or go back and re-teach the subject if many students answered wrong.

For both audio and visual technologies, identify one traditional and one emerging technology from the book, and explain how you could potentially use all four devices in the classroom.

         Visual :
Traditional: Overhead projectors can be used to do problems if the room is not equipped with a chalk or white board.  Some students have a hard time writing on a whiteboard because it is very different than writing on a piece of paper and some students can’t tell the difference.
Emerging: Emlo projectors or document cameras.  Elmo projectors can be used to do a game with younger students.  Instead of printing out papers for every single student, you can make one master copy and use that.  Elmo projectors are a fun way to incorporate technology in the classroom.

         Audio :
Traditional: CDs.  CDs can be used to play songs or games for students.  They can hold more memory than a cassette could and to find something that will play a CD is very simple and easy.
Emerging: Digital media players.  iPods can be used in classrooms for many different things.  Educational games can be played and it is a fun way for students to learn.  They are portable and easy to use.  Children of all ages can use these and they are beneficial for all ages also.
